If you are an event thrill seeker, Palm Springs is the place for you. There are so many local events held here all year long, especially from December through May. In fact, as a resident, I still didn’t even have an opportunity to hit all the events-because there are so many to choose from.
Dates and times may change but these are some of my favorite events that take place in Palm Springs and surrounding areas.
Palm Springs International Film Festival. Sonny Bono helped to put Palm Springs on the map in the 80’s by initiating the Palm Springs International Film Festival. He thought it might be exactly what the tourist community needed-and it hasn’t stopped since 1990. https://www.psfilmfest.org/2020-shortfest
Desert X. Led by a charitable group, they exhibit art all over the valley. https://www.desertx.org/
Palm Springs Modernism Week. This is a HUGE event that spans 10 days. There are tours of mid-century modern sculptures, homes, exhibits, art…the list goes on and on. There are fun parties to attend and smaller events located at the convention center. https://www.modernismweek.com/
Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival. Located at the fairgrounds in Indio since the 1920’s. This is a tourist attraction which celebrate the history of the harvesting of dates. There is fun for everyone at this festival. https://www.datefest.org/
Coachella Music Festival. This is a massive festival that sells out quickly every year-Coachella showcases musical artists of different genres and is one of the most popular events in the USA. https://www.coachella.com/
Stagecoach Country Music Festival. This is my range of music right here. Country, bluegrass, roots, folk…this is it! The big daddy of them all. It is a super popular festival and it is also held in Indio-same place as Coachella. https://www.stagecoachfestival.com/
Evening under the Stars. This is a fundraising and benefit dinner and entertainment event which helps to support AAP-Food Samaritans. Their goal is to help at risk members of greater Palm Springs, those on low income, and suffer from cancer, liver disease, or compromised by HIV. https://aidsassistance.org/about
Comic Con Palm Springs. Comic Con fans gather at the convention center to take part in all things comic related. http://comicconpalmsprings.com/
Palm Springs Modernism Week – Fall Preview. A four-day event which is a precursor to the big 10 day event in the spring. https://www.modernismweek.com/
Festival of Lights Parade. This started in the early 1990’s and kicks off on Palm Canyon dr the first Saturday of December. Who doesn’t love bright lights, festive holiday music, floats, marching bands, and of course Santa! It’s the greatest December event in all of Coachella! http://psfestivaloflights.com/
